Let’s talk about Etsy today! Such a great place to support small businesses and individual creators, while finding one-of-a-kind products for either yourself or for gifts.
So, what’s with the mask, you might ask? Well… Recently I ordered myself a Star Wars face mask on Etsy. Even more recently, however, I’ve learned that my face is apparently freakishly small. 🙂 So, I wanted to start out today’s Etsy roundup with a shout out to Etsy seller CraftedSwank.
Etsy Finds, from Masks to Meal Planning
Since we’re going to need masks for the foreseeable future, I wanted one to express my fandom and personality. I originally ordered this blue Star Wars face mask, which not only came with a filter, but included a surprise matching tissue holder. Unfortunately, although I loved both the fabric and the craftsmanship, this mask turned out to be much too big for my face.
When I contacted CraftedSwank about the sizing, they were out of the original fabric — but, they not only sent me out a replacement smaller Star Wars mask at no charge, they sent two: One in the smallest adult size, and one children’s size mask. Yes, I’m modeling the children’s mask above, because the adult small mask was still too big and kept sliding down my nose whenever I tried to talk. (Now, I know!)
That’s amazing customer service, and they definitely now have a repeat customer in me; the shop has earned its many five star reviews.
Support Black-owned Etsy shops
When I visited Etsy for this post, I was glad to see that they’ve curated a collection of Black-owned Etsy shops, where you can browse creations from Black sellers and easily support Black-owned small businesses.
I saw it on Etsy Recipe Cutting Boards — Fathers Day Gift |
Bringing it back to cooking and recipes, I found these very cool customized recipe cutting boards while browsing through this collection. What a great personalized Father’s Day gift idea!
Etsy is also donating $1 million toward justice reform and Black-led institutions, in support of #BlackLivesMatter.
Your Etsy shops
A while back I put out a call for Etsy creators to share their shops so that we can support one another’s small businesses. (Please do continue to add your to the form for possible inclusion in later posts; these are only a few of your shops to get us started.)
As a not-particularly-crafty person myself, I’m constantly amazed to see what you’ve created. So, without further ado, here are some of your Etsy creations, focusing today on kitchen and cooking items — with so many great choices for handmade gifts.
Mostly Organized creates systems to help keep moms mostly organized. In her shop, you’ll find meal planner notebooks, recipe books, and printables to help you out in the kitchen. Find both downloads and physical products here; whichever will work better for you. (Meal planner notebooks are a great gift idea!)
Speaking of cooking-related gifts, Curly Clips creates custom glass-etched gifts — from Pyrex casserole dishes to pie plates. In her shop, you’ll also find custom personalized wine cork collection boxes.
Among her other items, Dream Weavers Crochet creates nylon dish scrubbies to help you get stubborn stuck on food off your pots & pans without scratching them. You’ll also find coffee cup cozies, kitchen towel toppers, coasters, and face masks in her Etsy store.
HH Craft Co. creates home-engraved wood products — including kitchen measurement conversion magnets, and custom engraved bamboo cutting boards. Stick one of their handy magnets to your fridge for easy reference.
Decorate your kitchen with Etsy finds, too. At Laura Roy Art, you can pick up high quality prints of watercolor paintings. She paints foods in watercolor directly from observation — giving them a dreamy, ethereal quality.

At Etsy, I like the feeling that I’m connecting with an individual and that what I’m buying has a certain uniqueness to it. What’s been your own favorite Etsy find?
